Privacy notice

Who we are
The controller is Tony Adams (Real Tea News), Harrow, UK. Contact: tonyadamscakes@gmail.com. Editor: @tonyscakes8g on X.
What we collect, and why
- Enquiry and quote forms. Name (if you give it), email address, business name (optional), the package you ask about, your message and the date and time you sent it. We use this only to reply to you and to keep a record of the enquiry. We don't add you to a mailing list from these forms.
- Our legal basis is your consent (the box you tick) to store your details so we can reply.
- Spam protection. We use a hidden field and a short-lived, one-way scrambled copy of your IP address to stop a flood of messages. The scrambled copy is deleted within an hour.
- The site logs. Our host, Cloudflare, keeps standard server logs. We have no access to analytics from them and use none ourselves.
Advertising
We don't use ad networks, ad exchanges, retargeting or any third-party code that tracks you, and we don't share information about you with advertisers. Some stories are paid for by an advertiser. They are labelled "Advertisement feature" and are our own content: we host them ourselves, show the same ones to every reader, and don't choose what you see based on anything about you. Advertisers get no personal data about our readers from us. If you contact us about advertising, we use your details only to reply to you. If we ever add tracking or personalised ads, we will ask for your consent first and update this notice.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for up to 90 days, then they are deleted automatically.
Where it's stored
Enquiries are stored in a database on Cloudflare (D1), which is also our host. We don't use a third-party form service. Cloudflare may process data outside the UK, including in the US, under the safeguards in its terms.
Cookies, local storage and offline copies
We don't use cookies, analytics, ad networks or tracking pixels. Our labelled advertisement features and ad slots are first-party only and set no cookies. If you press "Not now" on the install banner, we save that choice in your browser's local storage on your device so we don't ask again. If you install the app, a service worker saves copies of our pages, pictures and stories on your device so they work offline. You can remove these in your browser settings.
YouTube
The Music and Books pages play videos from YouTube. Nothing from YouTube is loaded until you press play. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), but when you press play your browser connects to YouTube (Google), which can see your IP address and may store or read data on your device. We use YouTube API Services (the YouTube embedded player), so by pressing play you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's use of data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. You can also use the "Open on YouTube" or "Watch on YouTube" links instead. Music and videos can't be played offline.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw your consent, by contacting tonyadamscakes@gmail.com or messaging @tonyscakes8g on X. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
